The GMS Musical

A Fall Tradition

The GMS Musical

At The Girls’ Middle School, every fall since 2015, the stage comes alive with the energy, creativity, and talent of our student performers. The Fall Musical isn’t just a show—it’s a community-wide celebration where students step into the spotlight as actors, singers, dancers, costume and set designers, lighting and sound board operators, hair and make-up crew, stage managers, and backstage run crew.

During Intersession, students design and create costumes and build the sets for the musical. Throughout the fall semester, performers rehearse after school, and student designers create the props. At show time, GMSers manage the house and stage, running the tech booth, dressing the actors, and of course, performing in the spotlight – each student trying or growing a new skill.

From the first audition to the final bow, our students collaborate, take risks, and discover their voices—sometimes literally! With bold performances, imaginative sets, and a healthy dose of GMS spirit, the Fall Musical is a highlight of the year.

All interested students can participate in the Fall Musical, and so many do! Last year, 99 students (55% of the student body) joined teachers Caitlin Clendaniel and Alyssa Olson on or off stage in GMS’s performance of Spamalot Jr.  Rehearsals take place after school.
