Signature Programs

Middle school students naturally follow their hearts, seek novelty, and want to figure out who they are. Safe, supported exploration and risk-taking is not only a developmental need for your child at this age, it’s a path to life-defining self-knowledge and opportunity.

The GMS experience promotes expansive curiosity, creativity, and courage while emboldening students’ voices and identities—opening doors to endless possibility.

Girls in STEM

Our exceptional STEM program, bolstered by a rich and rigorous mathematics and computer science curriculum, ensures that our students gain firsthand experience–and success–in fields not yet dominated by women.

Arts & Media

In Arts & Media, all GMS students are exposed to a wide range of media and techniques. Ceramics, video production, and woodworking, along with music, metalworking, and drama, encourage students to express their voices, explore their artistic visions, and think critically about the visual, musical, and dramatic cultures of which they are both consumers and producers.

Entrepreneurial Program

Through our Entrepreneurial Program, a year-long interdisciplinary experience, our seventh graders build a business to manufacture, market, and sell a novel product of their own creation. At a formal event, they present their business plans to a panel of Silicon Valley investors for feedback, expert advice, and encouragement to pursue their goals. They become inventors, creators, leaders.

Intersession

Intersession is a week of deep inquiry that takes place twice a year, allowing students to expand learning beyond core academics through new activities they’ve never tried before. Students explore topics such as mindful photography, stop-motion animation, space exploration, glass blowing, community service, the history of noodles, and more.

The Bennett Scholars Program

The Bennett Scholars Program embodies our mission to create a community of diversity, inclusion, and belonging, ensuring all students, regardless of background or income level, have the opportunity to discover their strengths and their voice.

Social and Emotional Learning

Alongisde our academic curriculum, our students engage in weekly SEL classes throughout their time at GMS in support of their well-being. Led by our Guidance Counselor, SEL establishes a foundation for accountability and responsibility for our students in advocating for themselves, and connecting with one other. They learn to use their voices with intention, compassion and authenticity.
