Electives and Clubs
Explore. Create. Discover
GMS electives and clubs are where passions take flight, new skills are unlocked, and cross-grade friendships grow over shared interests. Whether you’re leading student council, starting the first-ever GMS Bug Club, or organizing classmates for community service, everyone finds a place to dive in, try something new, and shine.

Electives
Electives at GMS are all about choice and curiosity. Electives meet weekly each semester and are taught by our inspiring and multi-talented teachers. (Who knew the Algebra teacher is also a stage actor and choreographer?) Students get to explore interests beyond the core curriculum, with classes that stretch creativity, deepen knowledge, and spark ideas. Past electives have included:
- Ukelele
- Film Appreciation
- Yoga
- Improv
- Kites & Wind
Clubs
GMS Clubs are all student-initiated and student-run. Because middle schoolers can and will take the helm when given the opportunity! Some clubs (like the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, and Girls Giving Back community service club) exist each year with new leadership and focus. Others come and go with interest, such as:
- Model UN
- The GMS Newspaper
- Women in Film Club
- Bug Club
- Cat Rescue Club

At GMS, students lead the way, and if you have an idea, there’s a space to make it real.
